NA-172 (D.G.Khan-II) will now be the recipient of two multi-million dollar ‘super bunds’ after Member of National Assembly (MNA) Sardar Awais Khan Leghari announced that the local Planning Commission had approved the project.
After being apprised of a potential security hazard for residents of the surrounding areas due to the growing level of water in Indus River’s Southern end, Awais Leghari took up the matter with Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Now after approval, two bunds of four and six thousand feet are expected to be constructed at a cost of PKR 40 crore to prevent any untoward incidents in the future with Federal Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal adding that the construction will start immediately after the flood season.
Awais Leghari had special praise for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who agreed to provide the necessary support and finances for the execution of the project, and also added that such projects are paramount to the continued well-being and security of the residents of D.G Khan, and will bring a wave of happiness to the region in the future.
